Telluride Historical Museum  - Telluride Blanket reception

The San Juan Basin Archaeological Society is sponsoring a private reception in the Weatherford Gallery of the Telluride Historical Museum for a special presentation of the Telluride Blanket exhibit. Historian and writer, Bill Sagstetter, will summarize the historical significance of the rare 800-year-old Ancestral Puebloan textile blanket and explain its unlikely path from its discovery 100 years ago in a remote cave in Southeastern Utah to the new exhibit at the Telluride Historical Museum. According to Jeanne Brako, interim director of the Center of Southwest Studies and curator of collections at Fort Lewis College, the Telluride Blanket is "the only known dyed blanket that is intact. Everything else are fragments from different sites."

Please note:  The reception is open to members of the San Juan Basin Archaeological Society, members of the Chipeta and Hisatsinom Chapters of CAS, and other sponsored guests.   Early registration recommended.
